Chad is an arid, low-income and land-locked country, suffering from chronic food insecurity and alarming levels of hunger.
The community garden in Bandaro is a WFP intervention to provide livelihood and asset support to people who are food insecure or at risk of being food insecure.
The community garden links local agriculture to school meals and nutrition as part of WFP’s resilience intervention in the SAHEL region. The harvest of the community garden serves as an additional source of fresh food nutrients. Women working in the community garden also participate in the preparation of school meals.
